Attention, body, diary
AstroEmpathy is a practice of attention: turn toward the Sun, the Moon or a planet and honestly note what responded, in the body, in emotions, in thoughts. No ready-made interpretations.
The idea
Every second the light of the Sun, the Moon, the planets and the stars pours down on us. We receive it not only with the body but with thoughts and feelings. And each of us, like a prism, refracts it in our own way.
Astronomy studies the body of the luminaries. Astrology and myth explore their Logos: meaning and imagery, the way the luminaries “think” in us. AstroEmpathy is about the third thing: sensation. It invites you to feel the luminaries first-hand and to notice how exactly you reflect and refract their light.
We do not claim that the planets “influence” anything, and we do not interpret events. The sky is an occasion for practice, and the meaning lies in your experience. Astronomical dates in our posts come from open astronomical sources.
Five levels of perception
When we “feel the Moon”, the sensation may arrive from different floors. It helps to tell them apart:
Physical
Warmth, cold, heaviness, tingling, and where exactly in the body.
Energetic
A rise or drop in strength, vibration, a sense of “charge”.
Emotional
Calm, anxiety, tenderness, sadness.
Mental
Images, words, memories, clarity or fog.
Spatial
A sense of space, height, depth, direction.
Almost everyone has a “home” level: some feel with the body right away, some see images. The other levels can be developed.
The diary
We suggest closing each practice with a short entry. In the observation diary you log the date and time, the luminary, where in the body you sense it, what quality it has, how strong it is, and your own feelings, thoughts and notes. One entry is a coincidence. But after a week or a month you may see that, say, the Moon is almost always “cool and flowing” for you, while the Sun is “dense”. That is your personal pattern, not someone else’s interpretation.
Important: what AstroEmpathy is not
- Not science. We do not conduct research and do not claim that the luminaries act on people. This is a practice of self-observation.
- Not medicine and not psychotherapy. The practices do not treat anything and do not replace the help of a doctor or a psychologist. If you feel unwell, please consult a professional.
- Not fortune-telling and not forecasting. We predict nothing and promise no results. We invite you to notice and to write down.
Never look directly at the Sun, including through binoculars or a telescope. Do the practices where it is safe.
